Bob Allen
Bob Allen is Executive Vice President and General Manager of Gulf-California Broadcast Company which operates four TV and two radio stations in the Palm Springs market.
They include KESQ, the ABC affiliate, KDFX-the Fox affiliate, and KCWQ, the CW affiliate, plus KUNA-TV, a Telemundo affiliate, KUNA-FM and KESQ-AM. Gulf-California also operates the First Alert Weather Channel, KESQ.COM, and KUNAMUNDO.COM. Bob joined Gulf-California, a subsidiary of the St. Joseph News Press and Gazette Company, in January of 2000.
Prior to coming to the Desert, Bob was President and General Manager of WHO-TV in Des Moines, Iowa, and Vice President and General Manager of KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Bob started his career in 1960 working in an AM radio station in Sioux City, Iowa, while attending high school. In his later years he attended the University of Iowaand worked as a television reporter, anchor, and producer at WLS-TV in Chicago, KYW-TV in Philadelphia, and KOA-TV in Denver.
He was President of the Iowa Broadcasters Association and the Quarton-McElroy Educational Foundation for several years before moving to the Desert.
Bob testified as an expert witness on Digital Television for the United States House of Representatives Commerce Committee on March 21st, 1996.
He is married to Barbara, a Registered Nurse Practitioner. Bob has two grown sons and three grandchildren.
